We at 100% Records would like to introduce you to our latest signing, Zebra & Snake. Have a read below to learn about the electro pop group and their sound:
Best friends Tapio and Matti came together in their small Finnish town of Alajärvi to compose music free of limitations or self-criticism. They were just far enough from Helsinki to draw from its emerging synthpop scene while simultaneously reworking it into something completely their own. Coming from very different ends of the musical spectrum, the band was an unlikely pairing. Tapio was classically trained and experienced as a church cantor. Matti was a jazz musician fascinated by analogue synths. But both were rapt with the idea of music as healing: as an artistic form of therapy. Meeting for the first time at a concert, their shared love of music forged a friendship.
Both boys had a strong desire to create something new. They sat down behind their instruments and the music began to flow, transforming them into their beastly alter egos. The moniker Zebra and Snake was born. Crafting a “comforting sound”, Zebra and Snake made music that echoed the noises of Alajärvi; a beautiful open landscape spotted with silent darkness. Since then, they have looked to the past as inspiration for new terrains of sound. Zebra and Snake build gothic, droning rehabilitation as they continue to explore untapped avenues of song.
A sunny day gets strange when ice cream cones sprout mustaches and begin to sing. Watch the yummy clip below:
They’ve set the blog world abuzz with their mysteriously masked personas, broadcasted live into space, and remixed top pop stars. And now, at long last, Monarchy has released their first full album, ‘Around the Sun’. The work is as synthy and spacey as hoped; well worth the wait! The full tracklisting is below:
1. Travelling By Ambulance
2. Gold In The Fire
3. Floating Cars
4. We Were Young
5. Around The Sun
6. You Dont Want To Dance With Me
7. Maybe Im Crazy
8. Love Get Out Of My Way
9. The Phoenix Alive
10. Black The Colour Of My Heart
